Homeless shelters

What is being done for all the law abiding, hardworking african american homeowners that live in South Crown Heights and East Flatbush. Whom already have 5-10 violent homeless shelters ruining their neighborhood, and are afraid to walk in their own neighborhood. What is being done about the new “Mega Shelter” by 681 Clarkson Ave which will bring the already crime filled area (due to the existing shelters) even more crime. Why can’t our progressive elected officials advocate to have that property completely turned into a huge city park. With baseball, basketball, playground and more. Brooklyn zip code 11203 which the Kingsboro Psychiatric ward proposed 900 bed homeless shelter, is a area which is 95% black residents. Zip code 11203 has already OVER two dozen (yes over two dozen) homeless shelters. If you look at the current city run non-profit shelters, apartment buildings being 100% rented to “shelter programs” (many “residents” with such extensive arrests & felony records), and 2 hotels being used as migrants shelters (like Utica Hotel, 599 Utica Ave) Why is this zip code which is 95% black residents, a minority community, why is another 5 shelters plus the insanely large Kingsboro… Read more »

These new zoning will increase the amount of “low income units”. for anyone that knows current real estate. The city is putting and making recently incarcerated ppl “eligible” for these units with no lottery needed. Community Board 9 should vote it down. Any “low income unit” will NOT be for any locals financially struggling, but for repeat offenders coming from rikers island (as currently the situation in 4 different brand new buildings near prospect park area in West CH) The city is pushing dangerous criminals into low income units in brand new luxury buildings all over.
