The NYPD 71st Precinct will add extra police coverage in Crown Heights on Shabbos in the aftermath of a horrific terror attack in Jerusalem on Friday.
The added coverage is not due to any known specific threat to synagogues in New York, they said.
At least 7 people were killed and another 10 injured in a terror attack at a synagogue in the Neve Yaakov neighborhood of Jerusalem on Friday evening.
Devorah Halberstam, Honorary Safety Commissioner in the NYPD has been in contact with the Brooklyn Borough Chief’s office, who informed her that extra coverage is being arranged for the neighborhood.
“We thank the NYPD for their concern for the safety of our residents,” Halberstam told COLlive.com.
NYPD Commanding Officer of Community Affairs, Inspector Richie Taylor informed that Chief of Department Jeffrey Maddrey has ordered a deployment of additional resources at Houses of Worship throughout New York City, Yeshiva World News reported.
What about what we have been dealing with locally for the last month? Where were the police after all that? Either way thanks for showing up on shabbos for some extra protection hope they stay a little longer
