Nshei and Junior Nshei Chabad of Melbourne commemorated the 47th Yahrzeit of Rebbetzin Chana with a well-attended, beautiful and dignified function honoring the Rebbe’s mother in the new Yeshiva Centre multipurpose building of Chabad Youth.
The theme of the evening entitled “What’s in a Name,” focused on the three special mitzvos encrypted in the name “Chana”. A panel of three Chanas delivered inspirational talks on the three mitzvos that are foundational to the Jewish home.
Chana Serebryanski spoke on Challah with its power to transform the physical into spiritual by elevating the four elements of creation, earth, water, air and fire; all present in making challah. This was complemented by a story.
Chana Kurinsky inspired us with a true story on how committing to observe Taharas hamishpocha helped lift a woman out of post natal depression.
Chana Nakar spoke on the potency of Hadlokas Haneiros in bringing harmony and serenity into the home. She told how a young Beth Rivkah student’s commitment to light the Shabbos candles impacted on her family becoming observant.
This theme was further emphasized in the beautiful centerpieces on each table depicting the three blessings present in the Ohel of Sara, Rivkah, Rochel and Leah. They were creatively produced under the guidance of Chana Kaminetski together with Chana Lerner and Chana Ruschinek.
May all our homes be recipients of these brochos.
Mrs. Sima Paltiel (nee Kluwgant) shared personal reminiscences of her relative, Rebbetzin Chana, of her intelligence, warmth, care and devotion.
Sima had a personal photo of Rebbetzin Chana sitting at the head table together with her mother Rebbetzin Kluwgant at Sima’s wedding and letters from Rebbetzin Chana to her were screened for us.
The latest video on Rebbetzin Chana was also viewed; the evening ending with raffle draws and delicious refreshments provided by ladies and sponsors.
Special thanks to the Nshei Chabad Chassidishe Yomim Tovim team of Gittle Gopin and Rivkah Liberow for organizing such an inspirational and meaningful evening, a fitting tribute to Rebbetzin Chana – Mother of Royalty.
