Crown Heights is a living thing. Crown Heights is a growing place. Crown Heights is our home.
And Crown Heights is expanding, with Nosson’s Shul, a thriving community established in memory of Nosson Deitsch obm, set to purchase a new property in South Crown Heights.
Established 11 years ago by a group of friends, Nosson’s Shul has since blossomed into a home of Torah, Tefillah, and Gemilas Chassadim.
“For the past eleven years, Nosson’s Shul has lived, grown, and expanded beyond our imagination,” says Shul Rabbi, Rabbi Chaim Yisroel Wilhelm. “And now it’s time to build our future.”
By Hashgacha Protis, a beautiful property on the corner of Brooklyn and Midwood has become available, Wilhelm says. More than simply a “class Shul,” this corner space will BE”H serve as a center for the fast-growing South Crown Heights community.
With development, the building will house a gorgeous Shul, classrooms for Shiurim and children’s programs, a comfortable social hall, kitchen, library, and play areas. The space also boasts parking and apartments on the upper floors that could house guests, or serve as a source of income for the community center.
“This is what we’ve been dreaming about,” said Mendy Wilhelm, the Shul’s president. “We have the opportunity to buy a property for the shul and community at large, in the heart of South Crown Heights. We will serve the entire community with davening, classes, events, programming and more.”
The Shul is asking the community to help build this future center that will benefit the entire community. The downpayment is $500,000, half of which has already been raised from a number of generous individuals and families, they said.
On Tuesday 29 Iyar, May 11, at noon, Nosson’s Shul is launching a 48-hour Charidy campaign to raise the full downpayment needed. Every dollar given will be matched 2x by those generous souls.
Help Nosson’s Shul raise the remaining $250,000.
The campaign is called: NOSSON MEANS GIVE! Please go to charidy.com/nossonsshul to give what you can and help us build our future, build our life!
Moreover: Nosson/נתן is Gematria 500! Please help us raise our 500k to honor Nosson! What better way to hasten the Geulah than by building the future of our Yiddishkeit together!
Go Mendy Wil!
Amazing project.
I would suggest build a massive pool in the basement put different rooms for sports including the roof and you will make more than enough money and give our community kids a safe place that they much need.
Wow that’s so nice. I was his learning rebbe back in the day, CGI Montreal bunk aleph!
don’t forget the struggling youth

Brooklyn/Midwood (says in the article)
Always nice to hear about yungehliteit that are willing to put their money where their mouth is. The Rebbe would be proud of this type of expansion of the shchunah, and of those who are willing to fund it to make it happen. “Nosson” is a palindrome in both Hebrew and English – it’s the same word backwards and forwards. This indicates that those that give receive back in kind. Tizku l’mitzvos, folks ; and much Yiddisheh and Chassidesheh nachas from your families.
p.s. Am sure this adds nechamoh to the Deitsch family, zollen gezuhnt zein
