Just ahead of the Pesach holiday, the NYPD has a request for all residents who will be burning their Chometz at various locations in Crown Heights.
The NYPD 71st Precinct has warned that residents should not burn their Chometz in plastic bags.
“Please be aware not to burn plastic bags,” Officer Mike Baratta of the 71st Precinct told COLlive. “The large quantity of burning plastic causes toxic smoke to fill the area, and is not healthy for residents,” he cautioned.
Instead of burning plastic bags, Baratta says, “residents should use paper bags, or should remove the chometz from the bags before throwing it into the fire.”
The CHJCC and the gabbaim of 770 have ordered a container to be set up in front of 770 for burning the Chametz for Friday morning beginning at 6 am.
Many thanks to NYPD community affairs for their help.
This year, the burning of the Chometz will take place on Friday morning, before 11:58 AM in New York.
Yes I would like to say thanks to NYPD It’s not only for their help it’s for making sure our community is safe
Williamsburg, Flatbush, Boro Park etc. have multiple sites for burning chometz, in some places at least one fire on every block. Why in CH is there only one site, and elderly residents have to hike great distances to burn their chometz? With all our community activists taking photos with top government officials and joining them for chanukka and sukka parties, why do we get less than any other Jewish community?
