Chabad of Auckland, directed by Shluchim Rabbi and Mrs. Mendel Hecht lit the first menorah in the world.
100 people for the local Jewish community participated in the event.
Through the great efforts of Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky – Vice Chairman of Merkos, Head Shliach Rabbi Moshe Gutnick, and Rabbi Chaim Tzvi Groner, a fully functional Chabad house has been established in Auckland, NZ.
Chabad of Auckland opens its doors to hundreds each year, offering classes, a Talmud Torah, a teen program, shabbos minyanim, and lots more.

So beautiful!
(Note- it is not the first menorah lighting in the world as the title writes)
New Zealand is the first Halachic time zone. even though in the past 2 years Tonga has made itself the first time zone instead of the last.
