New York State Senator Zellnor Myrie, who represents Brooklyn’s 20th District, which includes Crown Heights, is running in the 2025 Democratic primary for New York City mayor.
Recently, a reception supporting his run was held at the kosher restaurant Bass and Bourbon, organized by Roger Archibald and Shneur Minsky, who graciously donated the space and food for the event.
Myrie is running in a crowded field of candidates. Former governor Andrew Cuomo and New York Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani are the front-runners, with New York City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams behind them.
Whoever wins the primary on June 24, 2025, will face the now-independent incumbent Mayor Eric Adams and the crime fighter Curtis Sliwa as the Republican candidate in the general election.
Members of the black and Jewish communities attended the reception in support of Myrie. In his campaign, Myrie emphasizes affordable housing, education, and public safety, issues that affect both communities.
Myrie has been clear in his support of the Jewish community, experiencing a shocking rise in antisemitic attacks since the onset of the October 7 war in Israel.
Participants included the leadership of DC37 union, Shmully Rosenstein of the Vaad of CHJCC, Mica and Yossi Soffer from COLlive, and activists Shlomie Hecht and Avi Lesches.
“The event was an opportunity to show support to Senator Myrie who has been a strong supporter of our community, and in particular in regard to our Yeshivas,” one of the organizers said.
Early voting begins on June 14th and goes through Sunday, June 22nd. To find your poll site click here and to check your voter registration status click here.

Better choice than cuomo. Endorsed by boro park and others
The ranking of Myrie 2nd and A. Adams 3rd by BP was purely a mathematical model so that their votes can go to Cuomo in a later round of ranked choice voting results, not out of any love for them. Myrie advocates for the release of Mahmoud Khalil. He is a progressive so we’d essentially be getting another term of DeBlasio.
We need to stop mamdani and cuomo is most likely to make that happen
And if we keep splitting up our votes among various candidates we’ll get no interest or support from whomever wins. Our community will have no effectiveness and will not impress whomever is elected.
And has less chance. Foolish move. So if some of Boro Park jumps off a cliff, be sure to follow.
Cuomo is the only one who can beat mamdami in the primary. Keep your eye on the ball
Don’t be misled! Jews are in extreme danger of Mamdani getting elected. If you are registered as a demoncrat, you have a mitzvah to vote for CUOMO and NO SECOND CHOICE. The margins of victory are in the single thousands, so your vote is essential, and any vote for the nice guy, Myrie, is instantly transferred to Mamzani. We once had a spoiler candidate for Bes Din who got 10 votes and was put up to divide the vote. We MUST support the smaller RASHA because democrat elections are fake, like golus, but November ones are geula and then, elect… Read more »
