New York Governor Kathy Hochul visited Crown Heights on Tuesday, stopping at 770 Eastern Parkway after a vehicle was deliberately rammed near the iconic Chabad-Lubavitch headquarters.
The governor was received by community activist Chanina Sperlin, Yaacov Behrman – spokesperson for Chabad, Devorah Halberstam – Honorary NYPD Commissioner of Community Safety, and Shmuly Rosenstein, acting chairman of the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council (CHJCC).
Her visit was an expression of solidarity following the recent incident, which raised fresh concerns about public safety and antisemitic violence.
Governor Hochul was accompanied by senior members of her staff, including Eva Wyner Rosen, director of Jewish affairs for the governor; Debbie Esther Louis, assistant secretary of intergovernmental affairs; and Jake Adler, assistant secretary of constituent affairs.
During her stop at 770, the governor toured the WLCC broadcasting room, managed by Rabbi Chaim Boruch Halberstam. She viewed archival footage of the Rebbe meeting with former New York City Mayor David Dinkins.
As part of the walk through the neighborhood, the governor also visited longstanding local businesses, including Raskin’s Fish Market and Judaica World on Kingston Avenue, engaging briefly with proprietors and residents.

The visit concluded with Governor Hochul visiting the offices of the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council (CHJCC) on Kingston and Lefferts Avenue.
Personally visiting gave her the opportunity to see the Council in action and gain firsthand insight into the wide range of services being delivered to the community each day.
During her visit, she met with members of CHJCC’s Weatherization Department and the Council’s Social Services intake professionals, who serve as the front door for families and individuals seeking assistance.
“It is overwhelming to see how people from all walks of life are being helped,” she said, noting the scope and real-time impact of the work taking place across CHJCC’s programs.
Commenting on the visit, Acting Chairman Rosenstein said, “This visit highlights what CHJCC is all about — showing up for our neighbors and making sure help is accessible, dignified, and effective. Our staff work tirelessly behind the scenes, and it means a great deal to have that work seen and recognized.”

Stop the photo-ops!!
She should not be give an opportunity to visit until we get a promise from her!
Sydney australia didnt allow the premier to attend the memorial. He didnt deserve it. Learn from them to stand up to politician who just butter up to us!
What is she doing to prevent anti semitism attacks?!
We want tachlis!
There’s noone better to vote for and im sure the community leaders meeting with her try but she has many other liberals that she represents unfortunately so its probably easier said than done to be fair
The Premier has been incredible since the beginning, attended every levayah and was a major source of support. You are referring to the Prime Minister (who btw came to the lighting at Bondi a week later and was booed, and at this point has been to a bunch of the different things at Chabad of Bondi)
As if she cares
What about the homeless shelters?
Any of them cancelled yet?
And what about cashless bail and the rampant crime and corruption and the violent illegals still being freed from jail?
We also do not want vaccine mandates for school.
Canada doesn’t have them. Not necessary. No catastrophic outcomes.
Yes my phone was stolen and nothing could be done about it.
I hope she didn’d slip the on the garbage. What a joke this is a slap in the face to how our so called leadership .
Such lame doors now, please no no no
she intervened with the kingsbrook shul!
The shul is still locked out and they are in court today.
What did she accomplish there exactly?
Should have charged her a $9 congestion fee to enter the neighborhood, tell her it’s very busy here so we charge tourists to visit. If she complains you could let her know she’s actually saving $6 cause it was going to be $15
Instead of complaining
Why didn’t you go to Kingston Ave and meet her
And respectfully bring up your concerns
Because anonymous comments won’t change anything
And don’t forget to vote in November
It’s not like the community was given a heads-up that she’s coming.
I would have showed up and given her a piece of my mind if given the opportunity.
Shame on all these people for not pushing for action. We don’t need a photo op
The pedestrian light at Kingston and lefferts has been broken for a week. Why is the CH leadership not putting pressure on the city to fix it
sure there’s room for improvement, but here’s also plenty good
Like what? I am drawing a blank
at least she intervened in the kingsbrook shul!
Now that’s an historical achievement!
She did nothing. There is another court date
The Governor personally visited our street to see the damage at 770. She didn’t have to come — we are a minority, and there are many other issues on her agenda — but she came anyway. That shows she cares and is willing to listen.
Her visit was important. It acknowledges the attack on 770 and the seriousness of antisemitism. We hope this leads to securing funds and real action to help fight antisemitism and protect our community.
I used to always criticize them but than I realized ,is it really their fault? Kathy hochul just isnt that great for us,what are they supposed to do exactly?
