New York City Mayor Eric Adams visited the Ohel of the Rebbe in Queens, NY on Monday night, Gimmel Tammuz, the 30th yartzeit of the Rebbe.
The Mayor was seen accompanied by Rabbi Abba Refson, Director of the Ohel Chabad Lubavitch. He is one of an estimated 50,000 people expected to visit the Ohel over 24 hours of the yartzeit.
Adams, who isn’t Jewish, has visited the Ohel many times in the past both in official and private visits. A former elected official representing Crown Heights, he thanked the Rebbe’s blessings after being mayor in 2022.
After praying at the gravesite of the Rebbe, the Mayor visited the gravesite of Ari Halberstam, the Chabad boy killed in a terrorist attack on the Brooklyn Bridge in 1994. Ari’s mother Devorah Halberstam is a community activist and longtime friend of the mayor.
