This year, Yud Tes Kislev at Lubavitch Senior Girls’ School was a truly extraordinary experience. From the weeks of Hachana to the grand day itself, the program embodied the theme: “Chassidus is כי.“ Inspired by the possuk “Ki Karov Eilecha,” the girls explored how Chassidus is both deeply relatable and an essential “key” to living our lives as Chabad Lubavitcher girls. “Learning Tanya to help in one’s Avodas Hashem is wonderful! Congratulations to our Talmidos, bringing Nachas to the Rebbe,” said Rabbi Lew.
One LSGS student said, “The Hachana for Yud Tes Kislev, driven by a theme song, highlighted the relevance of Chassidus through learning (beficha), joining farbrengens (bilvavcha) and going on mivtzoim (La’asoso) was my best Hachana!”
As part of the hachana, each student was paired with a partner to learn a specific perek of Tanya in-depth. Together, they created an illustrative summary of their assigned Perek. All the incredible depictions were compiled into a beautifully printed book.
To add to the excitement, dedicated students spent hours transforming the school corridors into a visually immersive Yud Tes Kislev experience, setting the stage for the big day.
The Yud Tes Kislev program began with a Chassidus-themed Snakes and Ladders game based on the Maamer Podo V’Sholom they had learnt b’chavrusa as chassidus before davening.
Three interactive workshops followed:
Beficha – A grand Kahoot game on the story of Yud Tes Kislev taught the girls new details about the historic events surrounding the arrest and liberation of the Alter Rebbe. Bilvavcha: A powerful panel featured three individuals whose lives have been transformed by Chassidus: an LSGS student, a Chassidishe girl from Stamford Hill, and Mrs. Sheina Teichtel, former principal of Beis Rivka Crown Heights.
La’asoso: Through interactive scenarios, students explored how Chassidus can be applied practically, showing its relevance to real-life situations.
Later, the High school girls joined the younger children from Primary school to sing together, creating a strong sense of achdus within the school.
At the main program, the girls heard an inspiring address by Rabbi Carlebach, Shliach to Greenwich, London, followed by a craft session where they made their own duct tape chitas covers.
The highlight of the day was the unveiling of the LSGS Tanya. Each girl proudly took home her own copy.
The program concluded with lively singing and dancing, capturing the joy that Chassidus brings to our lives. “The program today was mega outstanding together with the hachana that led up to it. The atmosphere in school was electric!” – Mrs. Freeman.
This year’s Yud Tes Kislev at LSGS truly proved that Chassidus is כי.
