With great excitement Chabad of Oregon announces the opening of a full-time Chabad Young Professionals Chapter located in Portland’s Northwest District under the leadership of Rabbi Meir and Sheina Posner. The Posners along with their two children will be serving the local area Jewish community as well.
“In honor of the 36th – double Chai – year of Chabad in Oregon, we are doubling our efforts to share the joy, meaning and relevance of Judaism in our community. The Rebbe taught us that we must go out and meet Jews where they are and a full time Chabad Young Professionals will do just that,” says Rabbi Moshe Wilhelm, the executive director of Chabad of Oregon.
Today’s announcement comes as Chabad marks 80 years since Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn arrived on the American shores and proclaimed “America is no different!” and called for a network of Jewish education to be built in the US.
Rabbi Chayim and Simi Mishulovin directed Chabad’s Young Professional programming in Portland for the past 15 years. “Portland’s young professional scene is ever growing and our programs must grow in tandem. A full time Chabad Young Professionals chapter providing a hub of spirituality and social activities with the focus of building community for this demographic is a true growth spurt for our community”.
Jodi Berris, whose work in developing Portland’s young Jewish adult scene is well known, says, “Portland has a ton of Jewish young adults – some connected and many not yet – and I’m so happy a full time Chabad Young Professionals is coming to our city to focus on and help cultivate Jewish connections for this population!”
Rabbi Meir and Sheina Posner come with an impressive resume. Rabbi Posner spent many years on the famed Chabad of Boston University and Sheina worked at the NY headquarters of Chabad Young Professionals international. They plan to spend their first few months getting to know the young Jewish professionals of Portland and how they can best serve them.
“I think the Posner family will be a great fit for Portland and will bring great initiatives to our community,” says Berris.

Rabbi Meir and Sheina will be amazing in their Shlichus.
The Rebbe goes with you. Good tidings.
Happy Purim.
