Rabbi Chaim and Meira Roome and their children are going out as Shluchim to the United States Air Force.
They have been appointed as Shluchim under the aegis of the Aleph Institute by Rabbi Sholom Ber Lipskar and Rabbi Avraham Korf of Chabad of Florida, and they join 5 other shluchim to the US military. (For more on Shlichus in the US military, please visit alephmilitary.org/chaplain.)
With an estimated 15,000 Jewish service members located across the globe, often in far flung places without easy access to Jewish connections, their work is cut out for them. Inspired by the Rebbe’s mission of no Jew left behind, the Roome’s are motivated to travel wherever needed to provide support.
Starting off at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan, at one of the most isolated Jewish communities in the world, the Roomes are excited to engage as many as possible Jewish service members and their families through Shabbos meals, Torah classes, and more.
“With multiple U.S. bases on the island, we will have ample opportunity to engage with many people,” says Chaplain, 1st Lieutenant Roome.
