New Shluchim to Texas A&M University

As more than 75,000 students prepare to begin the fall semester at Texas A&M University—the largest university in the country—Jewish life at the college will get a major boost as Rabbi Menachem and Moussie Lazaroff will join the team at the Rohr Chabad Jewish Center at Texas A&M University.

The Lazaroffs join Rabbi Yossi and Manya Lazaroff, who have served the college’s Jewish students for eighteen years. Rabbi Menachem and Moussie’s appointment will open new avenues for connection in College Station, as they will focus on engaging with faculty and their families locally in College Station, Texas—the university’s home—as well as spearheading a new initiative of Torah study for students, offering courses and one-on-one learning to undergrads, grad students, faculty, and alumni alike.

Rabbi Menachem grew up in College Station, and is familiar with the unique challenges of Jewish life more than 90 miles from the nearest sizable Jewish community. Moussie (née Feller) grew up on shlichus in Twin Cities, Minnesota.

The Lazaroffs’ appointment comes during a period of rapid expansion at the Rohr Chabad Jewish Center at Texas A&M University, as construction is nearly complete on a state-of-the-art mikvah facility amid continued growth. In the aftermath of the October 7th attack and the rise in antisemitism around the world, Jewish students have felt welcome, supported and proud at Chabad of Texas A&M.

The atmosphere of Jewish pride fostered by Chabad and evident across campus has brought more Jewish students to the school, and the Lazaroffs are excited to engage with many students this fall.
