New Shluchim to Serve Naperville IL Youth

Rabbi Tzvi and Tova Tornek (née Noll), along with their daughter, Chana, will be joining the team at Chabad of Naperville, Illinois as youth directors.

Consistently ranked as the number one city in America to raise a family, Naperville’s younger population is rapidly growing. “Their move comes at a critical time as the youth community in Naperville is growing by leaps and bounds,” says Rabbi Mendy Goldstein, who began Chabad of Naperville over 15 years ago with his wife Mrs. Alta Goldstein. Together, they have built a beautiful and burgeoning Jewish community that is ready for its next major step as they bring on Rabbi Tzvi and Tova.

“We’re here to provide a much needed focus on the younger families and their children,” Tzvi says. “We’re excited to engage the children, teens and their families and share the warmth and beauty of yiddishkeit.” Tzvi draws inspiration from his grandfather, R’ Zalman Tornek OBM who was dedicated to teaching and inspiring youth in innovative ways. “He was always innovating, a true pioneer,” says Tzvi. Some might remember R’ Zalman from his pizza shop in Crown Heights in the 60’s. He was the visionary behind “Uncle Zalman’s Radio Show,” and “Hameorer Mitzvah Scouts,” amongst countless other activities that were encouraged by the Rebbe.

Tova has a wealth of experience teaching young children and teens of diverse backgrounds in Chabad Summer camps, Cteen, and high schools. “It’s always been my passion to help guide teens in their discovery of self and their Jewish identity,” said Tova. Over the past few years, Tova has formed lasting relationships as a dorm counselor, program director, and teacher at Bader Hillel High in Milwaukee, WI, her hometown.

The Torneks will be moving on August 1st.
