Rabbi Yisroel and Golda Ohana (nee Itkin), along with their son Meir, have recently joined the team of Chabad Shluchim at Binghamton University, just in time for the new semester.
The Ohanas will serve as Directors of Engagement and Programming, and along with Chabad’s student leadership, they will continue to develop and expand Chabad programming and events.
Rabbi Ohana grew up in Brooklyn, NY where he attended Yeshiva. His Rabbinical studies took him to Israel, France and Australia. Golda is a native of Pittsburgh and completed teacher’s seminary in Israel. She has been involved in Jewish education and outreach which took her to Michigan, Florida, Pennsylvania, and New York.
The Ohanas both have extensive experience in Chabad-Lubavitch outreach and programming throughout the world in locations as far-flung as Cambodia, Peru, and Taiwan.
They bring experience, lots of passion, and positive energy to the dynamic, growing Jewish community at Binghamton University. The Ohanas intend to make personal engagement a priority of their work, they said.
The new Shluchim were appointed by Rabbi Aaron and Rivkah Slonim, Directors of Chabad at Binghamton University.
