As chassidim around the world mark Chof Av, yahrzeit of Harav Levi Yitzchok Schneerson, a family of new shluchim arrived in Khazakstan, the country where he was exiled and where he is buried.
Rabbi Menachem Mendel and Yehudis Brim and their two children were appointed as the 13th family of shluchim to the country by Rabbi Yeshaya Cohen, the country’s Chief Rabbi and Head Shliach.
The new shluchim will be joining Chabad of Almaty, which services the Jews of the city, and upkeeps the holy tziyon of Reb Levi Yitzchok.
They join shluchim who service tens of thousands of Jews across Kazakhstan in the cities Almaty, Nur-Sultan, Pavlodar, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kostanay, Karaganda, Shymkent.
The new shluchim, as well as all the year-round activities of Chabad across Kazakhstan are made possible by the donors who take part in the annual Chof Av campaign.
“It is very emotional for me to see me shluchim arrived on the very day of Chof Av,” Rabbi Yeshaya Cohen said. “All this is only possible thanks to you, the donors.”
“It is well known how much importance the Rebbe gave to the mitzvah of kibud av, and that the Rebbe gave an incredible bracha that those who donate in memory of his father would be repaid up to 500 times as much,” he said. “This is your opportunity to join and take part in the ongoing Chabad activities in Kazakhstan and in the upkeep of Reb Levi Yitzchok’s tziyun. ”
