Dear Parents,
After extensive research done in conjunction with the New York City Police Department and the security consulting firm called Guidepost Solutions LLC., Beth Rivkah Lefferts has implemented a new security system, to ensure the safety of all students and staff on our campus. The main entrance, Lefferts Avenue Exit #1, will now have a registered security guard, and our current security guard will be at our East New York Avenue entrance, Exit #2. In addition to the new security team, we are in the process of installing alarms and cameras throughout the building. In order to ensure the effectiveness of our new security system we must have the full cooperation of everyone visiting Beth Rivkah Campus Chomesh, 470 Lefferts Ave.
The following is a list of new policies and procedures that will be strictly enforced to ensure the safety of our children:
The Beth Rivkah Campus Chomesh building opens up at 8:30am Monday-Friday, and 9:10am on Sunday. (Students who have detention will be allowed into the building at 8:45am on Sundays.) NO student will be allowed in the building before then, unless they come to school by bus.
When bringing your children to school, ONLY the main entrance (Lefferts Ave. Exit #1) and the East New York Ave. entrance (Exit #2) can be used. The glass door in the octagon is no longer an entrance or an exit.
All strollers must be left outside by drop-off and pick-up (in the event of rain please remember to bring a rain cover) and taken home with you.
After 9:30am ALL parents MUST use the main entrance (Lefferts Ave. Exit #1) and sign in with the security guard before being allowed into the building. Once in the building, you MUST wear your visitor’s badge indicating that that you have clearance to be in the building.
After 9:30am, parents from grades 1-8 will not be allowed to escort their children to class; children will need to be dropped off at the main entrance (Lefferts Ave. Exit #1).
Any person seen in the building without an ID tag or visitor’s badge will be stopped and sent back to the main entrance immediately.
When entering or exiting the building, please do not allow ANYONE in behind you. Please be vigilant as you enter and exit the building.
The above security measures are thanks in part to a grant received from Mr. and Mrs. Yerachmiel Jacobson, as well as the generous support and help of the Beth Rivkah parents, who each paid a $150.00 security fee per family during registration. We are certain that with the cooperation of both Beth Rivkah parents and staff we will be able to achieve our goal of keeping our children safe.
Sincerely,
Benzion Stock

WOW!! It’s amazing how sooooooo many people in this thread “dance in circles” around the practical point of the matter and do everything to avoid “calling a spade, a spade” in this instance. So I will once again be the first to “lay it all out” in the hopes that maybe, just maybe, someone will actually take note and do something constructive that actually makes the students safer, and doesn’t just make them and their parents “feel” safer. Let me preface this by saying that, with all due respect to Bentzion Stock, he most certainly has the best intentions for… Read more »
So,go fight the law
Also bRHS has this our guard is awesome! He’s nice to staff and students. And when strangers come he gets firm. We feel safe with him:)
Does Crown |Street have suitable security? Also, does Crown Street (an older building with more nooks and crannies) have good mezuzahs? I suggest each student bring $5.00 to contribute to the checking of her classroom’s mezuzahs and all the mezuzahs. SERIOUSLY.
If in NY it is illegal for a security guard in a school to have a gun as someone stated, what about having an off-duty police officer outside each entrance? Surely they would be allowed to be armed?
To mr and mrs Yerachmeal jacobson. We are so thankful for all you do for our community. I know how busy you must be and still you make Bais Rivka part of your priority. May Hashem bless you and the new board for giving your time to help our school.
Bais Rivkah has an excellent guard already. He looks perfectly capable of fending someone off, if necessary. He is always alert doing his job and most importantly he learns and says tehilim during quiet times which is the best protection possible for our girls. Some of the rules make life very difficult for mothers. Not being able to bring a stroller into the building is the most difficult. How is a mother with a stroller meant to escort her young daughters to their classrooms, especially in cold or rainy weather. Imagine a mom who has to drop off two or… Read more »
But does this discussion need to take place on a public forum..the exact pro and cons of our security situation…we need a little Sechel..lets leave it to the experts and follow instructions and if you have an idea or complaint walk in and talk to admin directly.
May hashem protect all of Klal Yisroel!
so what happens when a kid needs to be dropped off in the middle of the day? Will someone bring them to their classroom and make sure the class is there?
she is monitoring the outside cameras and has to buzz people in…
the security guards SHOULD be outside if anything
The only constructive plan would be to have her monitor OUTSIDE cameras and report any suspicious activity BEFORE anyone tries to come in.
It’s going to end up with the only people being ‘intimidated’ being the parents or children but if the real thing comes c”v, zero.
It’s about time. Oholei Torah had one for years
Please tell me she carries a gun.
RESPONSE TO # 13
IF H”V A GUN IS NEEDED DO YOU RECOMMEND SHE TELL THE INVADER TO WAIT TILL NYPD COMES????? IN SAY 10- 15 MINUTES??????
thank you
Would it be possible to allow strollers from e New York? That would be so helpful for mothers picking up preschoolers!!!
I work in hospital where the guards are not allowed to be armed and they are told that if someone comes in with a gun they should run!!!!!!!
Do u want her to freeze?!
Kol hakavod they are doing something. And I’m happy to hear that the original guard is still keeping our students safe with the zchus of all the tehillim and learning he says daily!
Of course a security guard is necessary, but I hope they keep the old guard too, I really felt that although he wasn’t armed in the classic sense, that his tehillim and learning protect the school in a spiritual sort of way.
thank you!
thank u , this was long overdue but appreciative that it has been addressed! hatzlocho
excellent that’s really nice
A security guard for a school cannot have a gun!
Any questions about it call 71st precinct
1) During the day only way to get in should be that you need to get buzzed in.
2) The Cameras should also be monitored off site
3) Get security that is licensed to carry a gun
4) Get a guard that looks intimidating
5) Ask the parents to volenteer their time to help out in this area. There are many fathers that would help if asked.
Thank you Rabbi Stock & all involved in this. We must do our hishtadlut & Hashem will do His. Parents, teachers, guests please respect these rules. They are for our good.
A grateful grandmother.
Are the mezuzos checked on a regular basis? We know that
they are the best security we can have!
the guards should be armed; otherwise what is the point?
Chos vshalom someone shows up that should not be there how do you expect to stop this person???
so happy to see that this is in effect!!thank you beis rivka!!!
So glad something is being done about the security!
beautiful! it is comforting to know that there is something being done about school safety. has the board been as vigilant about meeting their responsibility to the teachers? i dont think they have been paid in months.
happy to hear. but quick question..is she capable of fending someone off if G-d forbid there was a situation??
Luv BR! Thanks all those who are keeping our children safe! The security guard is very nice-she says good morning/have a nice day 😀
however there was alaways a Guard there.
now they moved guard to east New York side.
Crown street also always had guard, so i dont see the Chidush here.
Sooo glad!
I hope she has a verrryyy boring job, and only has a good time getting to know the students and staff!
shouldn’t the security guard be outside???
