A group of parents got together to make a change in the world of Chinuch. They opened a New Mesivta in Pomona, now in its second year. In a letter, below parents share their sentiments.

Dear Fellow Anash,
There’s a new yeshiva and it’s absolutely incredible.
I think like all parents, we want a yeshiva that will really take a personal interest in our son, that he will be successful in his learning and of course be a Chassidisher Bochur.
The challenges for our Bochurim today (not just technology) seem to be greater than they have ever been and I absolutely don’t envy any teacher or school. They have by far the hardest job.
Enter, Mayan Torah, the new Yeshiva in Pomona, now in its second year and you will be blown away!
The success of any educational institute starts at the top, as in its chief mechanech.
In this case, Rabbi Nochum Labkowski has proven himself to be an educator par excellence. Just an absolute dream for any parent to deal with. You get the sense right away that he has great vision and clear goals, he loves what he does and invests enormous time into making sure your son is succeeding. Can’t say enough good things about him.
Being committed to the success of every bochur however fundamental it is, still isn’t enough. What sets this Yeshiva apart from others, led by the vision of Rabbi Yoseph Vigler, is the phenomenal improvements they’ve made to our traditional Yeshiva system/curriculum.
First, we all know that it’s impossible to effectively teach a class of twenty bochurim the same material. There are generally three levels within every class. If you don’t address these three different levels, you are pretty much guaranteeing that two thirds of the class will not be learning properly and not feel good about themselves, the Yeshiva or learning in general, and that’s a dangerous trajectory to be on.
We’ve been so impressed with how they have created three tracks within each class, really catering to each bochur in an absolutely incredible way.
Second, we see that our son looks forward to going back to Yeshiva. We credit that to a few things, including the “avir” of Ahavas Yisroel that is felt from the top down and translates into incredible camaraderie between the bochurim. But perhaps mainly because he isn’t just attending seder but he’s actually walking away at the end of the year with actual knowledge of what they learned. They have such a great chazarah system that they do every day and we see how well he remembers and knows material that he learnt last year. In the parlance of mechanchim, there’s a tremendous focus on yedias haTorah and the proof is in the pudding. Our son learned Gittin baal peh last year and knows it better this year.
The amazing learning program mixed with the warmth of Chasidus and the Yesod of Yiras Shamaim is what makes every bochur a shining Tamim.
It’s actually mind blowing watching this yeshiva blossom so fast and beautiful, the nachas is beyond description.
These are some of the reasons why the Yeshiva doubled from its first year. I’m writing this as a letter of thanks to the founders, Rabbi Yoseph and Tzippy Vigler, Eli and Shternie Steinmetz, and the hanhala, Rabbi Nochum Labkowski and his incredible staff.
I think it’s fair to say, for any parent, that seeing our children happy and succeeding and ultimately thinking about the Rebbe meeting our children and being proud to call them his chassidim, what more can we ask for? Our gratitude knows no bounds.

Thank you to the founders and hanhala of this incredible mesivta. We couldn’t be more happy. Our son is learning and growing into a true chossid and mentch. We are so grateful we took a chance on a new yeshiva. May you continue to have the zechus to be mechanech the next generation of lubavitcher leaders!
Our grandson Peretz is having a second wonderful year learning and growing to be a true Chosid in your most holy environment. Thank you!
