An essential fund to give financial assistance to Bochurim of the Central Tomchei Tmimim Yeshiva – 770 – “Tomchei Bachurim” – has been announced this week by the Vaad Hatmimim.
Once again, the Vaad Hatmimim has stepped up to tackle a long-standing issue hundreds of Bochurim face. Over the years, the lack of proper help in this area has proven a difficulty for many a Bochur who may not have had whom to turn to for help – and will now have his needs comfortably taken care of.
“A Bochur needs to know he has someone to turn to,” said Rabbi Tzvi Altein, director of the Vaad Hatmimim. “For too long, 770 Bochurim have felt alone and neglected. This is the first of what we hope Bez”H will be many initiatives to help them, B’gashmius and B’ruchnius, and more importantly, that they know someone cares and wants to help them.”
In the coming days, Tomchei Bachurim will distribute coupons for the purchase of winter essentials at subsidized and discounted prices. During the year, the Vaad will continue providing financial assistance to Bochurim in need, coupons for buying hats and jackets, glasses, hygiene products and much more.
To contribute to this fund, and help a needy Bochur, go to Vaadhatmimim.org/donate.
Maybe the 1st time for coupons and discounts, but for free, The drizins have been giving for many many years
The article doesn’t say this is the first time someone is helping Bochurim in 770.
Unfortunately, the administration of Kupas Bochurim discriminated against Bochurim from certain Yeshivos, hence the need for the Vaad Hatmimim to establish this.
This organization has been around for years and the Rebbe himself contributed.
Not sure why it says bachurim struggle?
How special ! Exactly how the rebbe rashab took care of the bachurim in the first tomchei Tmimim. Great job rabbi altein ! The bachurim add so much Chayus to our community . This is a great initiative
As a private businessman in Crown Heights with no affiliation to any group, I feel compelled to speak up when something like this is written. This article is highly inaccurate. First and foremost, Mr. Drizin שיחי has been doing this exact project for well over 20 years or more!!! Whether you agree with him on Hashkafa or not is not the issue. He has donated millions to both the Bochurim and mosidos and is the one that started this project many many years ago. I don’t want to take away from you doing this amazing project but to to ignore… Read more »
100% True!!
Where to bring nice winter black coats etc. for tall 6’ men to donate?

Although private donations directly to bochurim is fantastic, as the generous Mr Drizin had done for many years, there is distinct advantages when the distribution is through the Yeshiva hanhalah. When the Hanhalah is involved in distribution, they know which bochurim actually are registered in TTL-770, are attending seder regularly and are adhering to Yeshiva rules of conduct. Not everyone that looks like a bochur is actually learning and behaving as Tomchei Tmimim wants him to. Of course borchurim that misbehave, act inappropriately, don’t attend seder, have jobs – might also be a tzedakah, and if so, should be assisted… Read more »
