Over seventy New Jersey Shluchos came together this week for a two-day retreat of connection, inspiration, and laughter — a rare opportunity to pause from the busy rhythm of Shlichus and recharge together.
The retreat was an initiative of the Rabbinical College of America’s Mental Health program for Shluchim, under the leadership of Rabbi Mendy Herson, as part of its ongoing support for Shluchim and Shluchos across the state.
From the warm welcome and beautiful food displays to the thoughtful touches — elegant tichels, uplifting discussions, and plenty of good laughs — every detail reflected genuine care and appreciation.
One participant shared, “It feels so wonderful to be at the receiving end — being pampered and taken care of in such a loving, beautiful way — and it really gives awareness to what our community members feel when they come to our Chabad House.”
Another reflected, “Thank you to the Hersons for making their Shluchim and Shluchos a priority. These 24 hours were an honest testimony to the care and devotion you have for us. I didn’t know most of you before, but now I care deeply for each and every one of you.”
The retreat was thoughtfully organized by Mushky Levinson, Altie Kasowitz, Chaya Schera Spalter, Chaya Shemtov, Rochie Galprin, Chanie Gurkov, and Musi Naparstek, and left participants feeling renewed and reenergized for their Shlichus.
The atmosphere of warmth and unity carried through every moment — a true celebration of sisterhood, laughter, and shared purpose. The Shluchos left feeling uplifted and grateful to be part of such an extraordinary group of women, inspired by the Rebbe’s vision and proud to continue their mission with renewed strength. The experience was described by many as “perfect in every way, reconnecting with what’s important and holy.” A beautiful reflection of the deep friendship and achdus that define New Jersey’s community of Shluchos.
