“I was taught that I should learn because I want to and not for the test… now I get it,” says Essie Strasberg, a pioneering student of Bais Chana High School in the Brandywine Valley.
At Bais Chana High School, the goal is not just to teach information, but to give the girls the tools to think for themselves. Students are able to learn in an immersive and engaging way, thanks to the intentional and thoughtful curriculum planning, coupled with the passionate and experienced staff. The classes are relatable and applicable to the students’ lives, and engender true growth in every way. As Raizel Rivkin expressed, “I realized that it’s not just black and white, there’s always a bigger picture.”
Learning in a warm, supportive environment, the girls are encouraged to think both in and out of the classroom. Using self assessment incentive programs, such as “Level Up,” and creating leadership and engagement opportunities through Bnos Chabad and chesed initiatives, it is clear that Bais Chana High School is raising leaders who think for themselves. This is following the lead of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, who is well known for not creating followers, but rather leaders, each in his own way. As one of our students put it, “I can choose how I want to experience life. I can choose to always be positive and to be myself.”
In one year, BCHS has established itself as a place where girls can thrive both academically and spiritually. Located in a suburban area on the campus of the Jewish Community Center, students benefit from a beautiful facility with access to features including a gym, auditorium, pool, and trails as well as their own independent school setting.
