A new book was released this week exploring the relationship between Rabbi Shraga Feivel Mendlowitz of Torah Vodaas and Rabbi Yisroel Jacobson of Chabad.
The author, Rabbi Chaim Dalfin, adds this monumental work to his highly popular books, Rav and Rebbe, Rabbi Hutner and Rebbe, The Real Shlomo, Satmar and Lubavitch and Lakewood and Lubavitch.
The book has extensive endnotes, which are not just an adjunct to the book but a complementary source for better understanding the text.
Additionally, the book has a first-ever letter published from Rabbi Moshe Wolfson, the Mashgiach of Torah Vodaas to the Rebbe about two of his prize students leaving Torah Vodaas for the Central Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim – 770.
The book has unique pictures and documents from Rabbi Shmuel Kuselewitz, the former Masmich who gave rabbinic ordination at Torah Vodaas from the 1940s to 1960s. A partial copy of his will is published showing he left money to Lubavitch. Finally, the book mentions over 100 hundred students who learned either in Torah Vodaas, Lubavitch or both from 1919 to 2019.

Rabbi Batt (Yehoshua M.),was a Talmid of Rav Shraga Feivel Mendelowitz as well as an outstandingly pious individual who forged a connection with the Rebbe, ZY’A. (Kindly note that Rabbi Batt’s kesher with the Rebbe, ZY’A was featured in “Here’s My Story” -entitled: “The Rabbi and His Guide,” in which Rabbi Batt’s daughter, Mrs. Miriam Halpern, shetichye, was interviewed. A renowned Rosh Yeshiva related to close disciple the following story.
The young rabbi was a candidate for a position at Yeshiva Torah Vodaas, he was not seriously interested, but he heard that Rav Shraga Feivel would not hire anyone unless the Malach approved. Rav Shraga Feivel arranged for the Malach to meet him, although the malach generally would not set aside time for long discussions. It was clear that at that time there was very close rapport between them.
