The relationship between Agudas Yisrael and Chabad started in 1907 when the Rebbe Rashab was in Germany and met Jewish leaders.
In 1912, after Aguda was formed in Katowitz, Poland, the Rebbe Rashab was initially part of what would later be called the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah.
However, he and Reb Chaim Brisker changed their minds and withdrew their support for Aguda. The Rebbe Rayatz was also opposed to the Gerer Rebbe’s Aguda support. This changed post-Holocaust and the Rebbe supported the Aguda although like his predecessors, wasn’t a formal member.
