The period between Pesach and Shavuos, called Chol HaMoed by the Ramban, is explored in the new book “The Month of Iyyar: Evolving the Self / Lag B’Omer” by Rabbi Dovber Pinson, a renowned scholar and author.
Rabbi Pinson says that these days, also known as the days of longing for Matan Torah, as the Ran and the Chinuch write, are also a general time of mourning the death of the Talmidei Rabbi Akiva.
“Chassidus reveals that these days are called Katnus – smallness, that comes before the ultimate greatness of Matan Torah,” he says in just one example how he illuminates the meaning of the month with great depth.
The book also exploring some of the customs and practices of Lag BaOmer, such as bonfires, Upsherin, bow and arrows and the Rebbe’s initiative of public parades.
This sefer, among the other 40 books by Rabbi Pinson, can be purchased at all fine Jewish books and Sefarim stores, Amazon.com.
