I rarely comment but the people that can find what to complain about with everything amaze me.

This is a really nice idea that I have seen first hand, the children are very excited to have their few special moments together. Maybe if you find the negative in everything you should ask yourself whats wrong with your own life that you are so unhappy!

Fake Celebrations

So instead of improving the summer birthday celebration they make a fake celebration of nothing during the school year. Are we so desperate to “make kids feel special”? I guess so.

Actually, the way #3 describes the “king” for the day sounds nothing like what the Rebbe says a birthday should be. Birthday celebrations are meant to be spiritual events, not self-esteem boosting events.

As a mom let me explain the above beautiful purpose. My son’s bday is in the summer. A whole year, all his classmates get one day when they are “king” for the day, they are made a fuss of at school, are talmud hashovuah or talmud hayoim, get to give out party bags or donuts and soda. The kids who’s bdays are in the summer get a bday in camp with no fuss, a young counsler who may try hard to make a good bday but its no way the same as the rebbe at school – very slap dash,… Read more »

I see no purpose in celebrating a birthday months in advance. Is there some hora’a from the Rebbe I’m unaware of?
