As a historic tripartite summit between top Israeli, American and Russian security officials got underway in Jerusalem on Tuesday, U.S. National Security Advisor John Bolton assured Iran that U.S. President Donald Trump is ready to enter negotiations, JNS reported.
Despite a spike in tensions between the United States and Iran in recent days, Bolton said “all that Iran needs to do is walk through that open door” to find a willing negotiation partner.
Bolton lamented that Iran’s silence in the wake of rising tensions has been “deafening.”
He made the statements at a high-profile security summit Tuesday.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu led the trilateral summit meeting of the national security advisers of the US, Russia and Israel Tuesday at the Orient Hotel in Jerusalem.
The historic meeting of security advisers is being held pursuant to Prime Minister Netanyahu’s efforts with the American and Russian administrations and in continuation of the meetings held by the Prime Minister and National Security Adviser Meir Ben-Shabbat in recent days with US National Security Adviser John Bolton and the Secretary of the Russian National Security Council, Nikolai Patrushev.
National Security Adviser Ben-Shabbat and his US and Russian counterparts are currently meeting at the summit. The discussions are focusing on Iran, Syria and regional issues.
