The 78th Annual Awards Dinner of the National Committee for Furtherance of Jewish Education (NCFJE) will be taking place at the Edison Ballroom in New York City on Sunday, November 18, 2018 – 10th of Kislev 5779.
The black tie will pay tribute to the legacy of Jewish education and community service for over three-quarters of a century by the longtime Jewish organization that protects, feeds and educates thousands throughout the New York metro area and the nation.
NCFJE was one of the first Chabad-Lubavitch charities established in the United States in 1940 by Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Schneerson, the 6th Lubavitcher Rebbe.
Honored at this year’s dinner will be Mrs. Mica Soffer, co-founder and publisher of community news service COLlive.com, along with her husband, marketing executive R’ Yossi Soffer. They will be presented with the Lamplighter Award.
“Mica is being recognized for her contribution to the Chabad community and to the Jewish community at large,” said Rabbi Shea Hecht, chairman of the board of the NCFJE and a communal leader and activist in the Crown Heights Jewish community.
“COLlive.com boasts a diverse and dedicated readership all over the globe,” he said. “The site has put a media spotlight on the events and issues that concern Crown Heights, Chabad and the Jewish community at large.”
Fellow honorees include Guests of Honor Rabbi Dr. Hank and Mrs. Debbie Sheinkopf; Kesser Shem Tov Award recipients Ari and Batsheva Daskal; and William F. Sweeney Jr., FBI Assistant Director in Charge of the New York field, with the Distinguished Public Safety Award.
“We’re looking forward to the opportunity to say thank you to Mica and the other honorees for their accomplishments and their contribution to our community,” said Rabbi Hecht.
