Even Wolf Blitzer is excited for the National Menorah.
The lead political anchor of the CNN network tweeted a photo of the tall golden Menorah annually built be American Friends of Lubavitch (Chabad) on The Ellipse park.
“Look what I saw when I drove by the White House this morning,” he wrote about the Menorah that proudly stands just across from the White House in Washington, DC.
This menorah has become a premier national and even international symbol of the festival of Chanukah, inspiring Jewish communities across the globe to sponsor public menorah lighting ceremonies of their own.
The lighting of the National Menorah, attended by thousands every year, is considered the most widely broadcasted Menorah lighting. Its shown on TV newscasts, internet feeds and other media by tens of millions across the nation and the world.
Overseeing the ceremony and kindling of the Menorah are Rabbi Avraham Shemtov, Chairman of Agudas Chassidei Chabad International and the Rebbe’s Shliach to the White House and Rabbi Levi Shemtov, Executive Vice President of American Friends of Lubavitch – Chabad in Washington, DC.
Representing the U.S. administration at the celebration is Gary Cohn, the national economic adviser to President Donald Trump.
