With New York City and Riverdale still under high levels of lockdown due to the Covid pandemic, the Jewish community did not expect to have a very joyful Yom Tov, especially for the children.
After much planning, Rabbi Levi and Sorah Shemtov, the Rebbe’s Shluchim organized outdoor and private Megilah readings all around Riverdale thanks to Yosef Shemtov and his friends from Yeshiva Menachem of Westchester.
To uplift the spirits of the whole community, they arranged for 2 horses and a carriage to 12 pre-arranged stops all over Riverdale with music and Bochurim dancing at each stop.
“The community’s reaction was amazing, everyone was so excited to be able to enjoy the Simcha of Purim in front of their house or building,” Rabbi Shemtov said.
