Mrs. Sharon Mirmelli, the longtime General Studies principal of the Landow Yeshiva /Lubavitch Educational Center of Miami, Florida, passed away on Sunday, 12 Av, 5783.
Her untimely passing has devastated the South Florida community. A true beacon of education and mentorship, Mrs. Mirmelli’s departure has left hundreds, if not thousands, of students grieving and cherishing the profound impact she had on their lives.
The Dean of the Lubavitch Educational Center, Rabbi Benjy Korf expressed the collective sentiments of the school community, stating, “A true woman of valor has been taken from Klal Yisroel, an educator by trade and passion whose reach and influence went far beyond any classroom walls. She will be sorely missed by the school community.”
Rabbi Korf further shared with COLlive, “I personally will make it a point that students dedicate their learning this year to her memory. It is the least we can do for her many decades of selfless service to the Jewish children of South Florida.”
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Mrs. Sharon Mirmelli was known for her hospitality and warmth. She generously opened her home every Friday night and Shabbos afternoon for Kiddushes, extending an open invitation to all local Bochurim. Anyone who entered felt like a personal guest, a testament to her genuine and caring nature and magnificent adherence to Hachnosas Orchim.
Mrs. Mirmelli’s legacy will endure through her beloved children, Andy, Greg, and Sara, who will carry forward the torch of her soul and passion. Furthermore, the scores of former and current students who experienced her guidance and support will continue her teachings to the next generation.
In tribute to Mrs. Mirmelli’s memory, the Landow Yeshiva /Lubavitch Educational Center will be setting up a special email address where former students and community members can share their cherished memories and stories. It is hoped that these heartfelt recollections will provide comfort and solace to her grieving family during this difficult time.
Levaya information will be updated when available.
