Mrs. Sarah Teitlebaum, a longtime active member of the Chabad community in Montreal, Canada, passed away on Wednesday, 14 Cheshvan 5786.
She was 89.
Born in Toronto as an only child to immigrant parents, Mrs. Teitlebaum grew up with a deep sense of Jewish pride and dedication to community life.
In Montreal, she became one of the key leaders of Neshei Chabad, organizing women’s events, shiurim, and mivtzoim activities that inspired and uplifted many.
Together with her husband, Professor Abraham Dovid Teitlebaum, she opened her home to countless guests and students. Before the establishment of the Chabad House at McGill University, Mrs. Teitlebaum hosted weekly Shabbos shiurim for McGill students, creating a warm environment of experiencing Yiddishkeit.
Known for her friendliness and caring nature, she had a special talent for connecting people, often helping to make shidduchim. She was beloved by all who knew her for her warmth, kindness, and genuine interest in others.
She is survived by her husband, Professor Abraham Dovid Teitlebaum, and their children: Rochel Bryski of Crown Heights, Yossi Teitlebaum of Flatbush, NY; Mendy Teitlebaum of Montreal, Zev Teitlebaum of Montreal, Zvi Teitlebaum of Crown Heights, and Levy Teitlebaum of Ottawa, along with a large family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren — over one hundred in total.
The Levaya was held on Wednesday.

She always had a smile on her face
It will take a while to get over the loss of Mrs.Sarah Teitelbaum. It was truly shocking.She was everyone’s friend. She was a true Aishes Chayil and a Yirat Shamayim. Her davening on Shabbos was in a way that she never looked out of her siddur for one moment. Something to emulate. Her house was open for guests, students and the like.
