Mrs. Sara Deren, a resident of Crown Heights who worked in the education field, passed away on Monday, 20 Cheshvan 5776, at the age of 38.
She worked as a teacher’s assistant in the Bnos Menachem girls school in Crown Heights and led cooking classes for teenagers in her home.
“She was a very chassidishe woman who had strong faith in Hashem and accepted life’s hardships with love,” a family member said.
Her husband Rabbi Mendy Deren, who grew up on Shlichus in Stamford, Connecticut, passed away on 27 Cheshvan 5771.
She is survived by her parents, David and Tziona Cohen, residents of the Gilo neighborhood in Jerusalem, her siblings, and their families, and her in-laws Rabbi Yisrael and Vivi Deren of Stamford, CT, and the extended Deren family.
The lavaya will pass by 770 Eastern Parkway on Monday, 8:15 pm; burial will take place in Israel.

The librarian! Just weeks ago, when she wrote me a post-it note with the due date for my books, she wrote a lovely Shana Tova message. May her neshama have an aliya and may we all have the greatest Shana Tova ever with the coming of Moshiach now!!

She was always so helpful and sweet at the library, where she was a librarian. Can’t believe this.
Did she work in the Levi Yitzchok library in the summer

Lots of questions no answer.
Was taken away too young and I will still ask Hashem Why?
Terrible,,painful…’galus.’ ‘Boruch Dayan HaEmet.’
I don’t pretend to understand the ways of Hashem. As a matter of fact, I don’t understand them at all.
Sarit was a classmate of mine. I didn’t know her that well as she was very quiet and unfortunately off school due to sickness a lot of the time.
I met her again in CH, a few years ago. She seemed to be as strong as one can be, after losing a husband.
She was a sweet person who has multiple challenges to deal with.
May she rest in peace.
Shocking
We need Moshiach
I spoke to her a few times. What a warm kind sweet person. What a shock.
