Mrs. Rochel Chaiton, a longtime Shlucha and educator in Portland, Oregon, and Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on Sunday, 19 Teves, 5784.
She was born to R’ Moshe and Rivah Shubov of Crown Heights.
Together with her husband Rabbi Yosef Chaiton, she moved to Portland, where they served as Shluchim and educators at the local Chabad school.
In 2018, to be close with their children on shlichus, they moved to Nevada. There they took up positions at Chabad’s Desert Torah Academy, where Mrs. Chaiton was a beloved teacher. While she was quiet by nature, she always had a kind word to say, or a good idea to share.
She is survived by her husband Rabbi Yosef Chaiton, her children Shmully Chaiton, Crown Heights and Rabbi Dovber Chaiton, Las Vegas, Nevada. As well as her siblings: Bentzion Shubov, Crown Heights, Mendel Shubov, Toronto and Esther Krinsky, Crown Heights.
The levaya will, beezras Hashem, be in New York, details to follow.
Baruch Dayan Ha’emes.

Shocking news
She was a kind and gentle person
So sad
She hosted us along with her husband in Oregon for Sukkos one year
Very special, sensitive woman
May Hashem comfort the family among all the mourners of Tzion and Yerushalayim
Rochel was a kind and beautiful soul. We spent sukkot together in Portland for many, many years. Something we looked forward to yearly, plus all the Shabbat dinners and her warmth and friendship will be deeply missed. Our deepest condolences to Rabbi Chaiton and Shmulie and Dov Ber, and to the entire family. We are heartbroken to hear this news.
this is unbearable and unacceptable. Hashem!! What is it????
i knew her from bais rivkah. she hd such a simchas hachaim. always had a way to ease any situation or stressful moment. such a sense of humor. Hashem, really?????
I am in shock. She was such a special humble woman. A big loss to Am Yisrael. May comfort come upon her family and moshiach now!!
I am in shock. Just spoke to recently and didnt know that she wasnt well. I am so sad to hear this news.
What an unbelievable and sad shock. I saw her last a few months ago at shul. She was falling asleep after kiddish after being up all night with her new grandchild. She still managed to stay for a ladies class with the rebbitizn afterward. She was tireless and giving. I’m beyond sad for her husband and family. This must have been such a shock since she was relatively young. I will miss her greatly.
What is the address for shiva?
