With sadness, we report the passing of the Shlucha, Mrs. Rivkah Begun (nee Herson), on the first night of Pesach.
Mrs. Begun, wife of the Shliach Rabbi Hersh Leib Begun, was 81 years old, and had been battling several ailments over the past years, including Parkinson’s disease.
Rabbi and Mrs. Begun merited to have the Rebbe officiate at their wedding in 5759-1958, and shortly thereafter they traveled back to their original country of Brazil as Shluchim.
In the over 55 years of Shlichus, the Beguns built the empire of the Chabad educational system in Brazil, created a unique Chabad community in the heart of S. Paulo, and impacted countless people in Brazil and elsewhere.
The Beguns have six children, all involved in Shlichus work, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren over the world.
She is survived by her husband, Rabbi Hersh Leib Begun; by her sons, Rabbis Shmuel Osher Begun, Menachem Mendel
Begun, and Moti Begun/strong>, Reizel Leah Neparstek, Chanah Ende – all of S. Paulo Brazil, and Shternie Lew of Peachtree City, GA,
She is also survived by her brothers Issac Herson of Rio De Janeiro, and Rabbi Moshe Herson, Head Shliach to New Jersey.
The levayah of Rebbetzin Begun will take place on the first day of Chol Hamoed at 3:00 p.m. at the Cemitério Israelita do Butantã in S. Paulo. Shivah will begin after Pesach. Condolences can be sent to: [email protected]
