Mrs. Herman was regal, refined and down-to-earth, a true lady in every sense of the word. Her beautifully cultivated flowers graced many a Shabbos Kallah and Pittsburgh N’shei event. I’m happy she’s reunited with her dear husband Z”L but what a loss for our community! Yehi Zichrah Boruch.

How can any of us who have been fortunate to know Rita begin to describe her?? Her fire, her individuality, her charisma, her love, her sense of humor, her devotion, her talent, her fire, her passion, her wit, her charm, her fun, her mesiras nefesh all used for the cause of anything yiddishkeit, yeshiva, children, education, friends, family, Rebbe!! Her priorities were never skewed! Her talents extraordinary, putting Marth Stewart to shame! Her giving non-stoppable—nothing too big or small!! Was there ever an event in Pittsburgh over 45 years that wasn’t graced by flowers from her garden? You need someone… Read more »

Rita was extraordinary. And what style she had. Does anyone remember the swing in her living room? As a child in Pittsburgh, visiting my grandparents with whom she was very close, I was enchanted by the swing and the sun room and her garden.

I remember her speaking at the Zohar Lunch or Shalosh seuda for the Mother =Daughter Shabbaton. Yes, regal, amazing and awe inspiring. What a tremendous loss to Pittsburgh, her family and Klal Yisroel.
