Mrs. Masha Vogel, a longtime dedicated Shlucha in Rochester, NY, passed away on Yom Kippur, 5783.
She was 64, just days away from her birthday on 28 Tishrei.
From her parents, R. Shmuel Meir and Bas Sheva Silberstein obm, Masha absorbed her deep love for Yiddishkeit and Hiskashrus to the Rebbe.
In 1981, on their third wedding anniversary, Masha with her husband and toddler came to Rochester, NY to serve as the Rebbe’s Shluchim. As a Shlucha for over 41 years she was a powerhouse of Emunah, hospitality, friendship and kindness – especially to those who found themselves in the most difficult circumstances.
The so many who loved her will sorely miss her sincerity, strength, and genuine warmth while continuing to be inspired by her shining example.

I knew Mrs Vogel A”H. I once stopped in a motel in Rochester on my way from
Ma to Toronto. I called ahead to Rabbi Vogel and he invited me and my family to have dinner with them. When we arrived, Rabbi Vogel was not home but his wife,
Masha Vogel A”H was expecting us and served us dinner graciously. May she have a lichtige Gan Eden.

I walked in to Masha Vogel’s Chabad-on-campus as a Pentecostal Xian who had never met a real, authentic Jew. I was prepared to find a cold religion devoid of meaning – instead, the Vogels introduced me to the vibrant warmth of Judaism and Chabad. When I decided to convert, Masha and Rabbi Vogel took a chance on me and led me through the long road to conversion and became my Yiddishe family in the process. Now, 25 years later, I am a Chabad shlucha with my own Chabad House and iyh a 50 foot sukkah with hundreds of guests, and… Read more »
That’s awesome! Good for you.
A hard working Shlucha! Everyone was greeted with genuine warmth and a huge smile.
Hamokom….
No more suffering. Condolences to the family
I knew Mrs. Vogel personally, and she was a very sweet lady. But on top of that she and her husband really showed a lot of care and concern for Klal Yisrael. Thank G-d Rabbi Vogel is still alive, but it really is such a loss for someone like her to have left this world.
