Mrs. Leah Barouk, affectionately known as Morah Leah to her South Florida students, has passed away on Chof Tes Kislev, 5784.
A woman of valor, she dedicated every waking moment to her family and students, tirelessly educating the Tinokos She Beis Rabon of the preschool at LEC for over three decades. Beloved by staff, parents, and especially her students, her “win the fight” mentality during recent challenges reflected her desire to return to the classroom.
The creative learning in her class for 3-4-year-olds left a lasting impact. At her funeral, students well into their 30s, with children of their own, shed tears for the immense loss in the chinuch world, the South Florida community, and the Barouk family.
Mrs. Leah Barouk is survived by her husband Barry, sons Moshe of Bay Harbour, Danny of Hollywood, and Rochel Steinberg of North Miami Beach.
She is also survived by her siblings include Rabbi Mordechai Lichy of Coral Springs and Mrs. Becky Garfinkel of Miami Beach.
