Mrs. Jill Katz, a renowned, respected and beloved matriarch and Rebbetzin in Pretoria, South Africa, passed away on Shabbos, 27 Shevat, 5779.
She was always regarded in high esteem as a refined, regal and elegant lady, who conducted herself with absolute grace. She was very dear to her many friends, and incredibly devoted to her extended family.
Alongside her late husband Rabbi Shabsi Katz, z”l, they served as leaders of the Pretoria Jewish community for close to four decades. Her powerful interactions with the Lubavitcher Rebbe and the inspiring recollections of their times in Yechidus were deeply cherished by her.
She is survived by her children, Mrs. Chana Zakheim (Yerushalayim), Mrs. Ruth Chaiton (Johannesburg, SA), Rabbi Michoel Katz (Johannesburg, SA) and Mrs. Joan Wainer (Johannesburg, SA). The light and pride of her life were her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren ka”h, several of whom are Shluchim around the world.
The Levaya took place on Sunday afternoon in Pretoria, South Africa. The family is sitting Shiva in Johannesburg.
