Mrs. Ella Seelfreund, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who survived the Holocaust to build a proud Jewish family, passed away on Sunday, 11 Nissan, 5783.
She was 96.
Ella was known for having great Mesiras Nefesh for Yiddishkeit. She was modest always in her dress and actions.
Ella was born with a blessing from a Tzadik, she told. When she was born, her parents had lost several infants at a few months old, and when her mother was expecting her, they visited Reb Yeshayale of Kerestir for a brocha for a healthy baby. Reb Yeshaya told them they should “sell her” with a contract to the Rov of their town, and blessed them that their baby should live a very long life.
She merited to live until the age of 96, and has five generations of descendants following in her ways of Torah and Mitzvos. She left a true legacy of chassidim and Yirei shomayim.
She is survived by her children, Libby Barber of Crown Heights, Breindel Brisk, Nussen Nute Hakohen Seelfreund and Yitzchok Dov Hakohen Seelfreund.
She was predeceased by her husband Moshe Avrohom Hakohen Seelfreund obm.
The Levaya took place today.
Mrs. Libby Barber will be sitting Shiva until erev Yom Tov, at 200 Ross Street, Apt 6A.
