Mrs. Chaya Goldschmidt, wife of R’ Moshe Goldschmidt obm of the Chabad community in Nachalas Har Chabad, Israel, and daughter of the chossid R’ Mordechai Sirota obm, passed away on Wednesday, 22 Teves, 5785.
She was the daughter of R’ Mordechai Sirota, who risked his life to spread Judaism in the Soviet Union.
After her marriage to her husband R’ Moshe Goldschmidt in Samarkand, behind the Iron Curtain, they established an exemplary chassidic home devoted to acts of kindness and assistance to others, even during the harsh times of religious persecution.
After they immigrated to Israel, they settled in Nachalas Har Chabad, where she stood by her husband’s side in all his activities: hosting guests, charity work, and activism in the Nachalas Har Chabad neighborhood.
She is survived by her children, R’ Yitzchak Goldschmidt – Kfar Chabad, R’ Shalom Goldschmidt – Kfar Chabad, Mrs. Chana Malka – Crown Heights, Mrs. Rochel Alperovitch – Nachalas Har Chabad, Mrs. Feiga Prus – Lod, and Mrs. Malka Segal – Kfar Chabad.
She is also survived by her siblings: Moshe Sirota, Nachlas Har Chabad, Rochel Klein, Nachlas Har Chabad, Baruch Sirota, Lod, Hershel Sirota, Atlanta, GA and Israel Sirota, Montreal, CA.
The Levaya will take place today, Wednesday, from her home in Nachalas Har Chabad, 156, at 18:00, proceeding to the central synagogue, Beit Eliyahu, and from there to the Shamgar funeral home, continuing to the Chabad section of the Har Hazeisim cemetery, where she will be laid to rest.
