Broken Heart

I first met Chanchy in 1973 when I came to CH to attend my senior year at Bais Rivkah. She befriended me immediately, taking me under her wings, spending every shabbos with her family and the memories are like yesterday. We laughed all the time and she made me feel more than welcome in what was a foreign life for me. Memories , so many, as I sit here remembering and crying. She was a most amazing person, with a heart of gold, never wanting anything in return. She raised a beautiful family and her door was always open for… Read more »

I read comment from # 18, and think of how many of us felt like Chanchy’s best friend. I taught with Chanchy in Bais Rivkah and she was the one who spiced up the teachers room. We never knew how much she suffered because she came in everyday so well dressed and in good spirit. Everyone enjoyed her company. She was friendly to all and always had a good word to say. She helped out the kids who came from less fortunate homes. She brushed their hair, bought them what they needed and taught them how to care for themselves.… Read more »

I knew Chanchy so many years ago, as a fellow student in Bais Rivka , Yerres , France; She was the funniest, warmest girl that I can remember, was friendly with absolutely anyone, English/French/American alike! She had no airs about her and got everybody laughing at her sense of humour; She played guitar, something amazing, and when we used to farbreng, it was always accompanied by her incredible playing; When I saw her face on COL and read the unbelievable tragic news, the shock was something indescribable! How can it be true??? One again, the best and choicest have been… Read more »

Growing up spending summers in Himmel bungalow colony, Chanchie was such a major part of the country. A heart of gold gold gold. and so modest about it, totally never making a big deal. down to earth, practical, and at the same time so so caring–for real, not bluff. reaching out to those who needed it…in so many ways that people wouldn’t even know. I can’t believe this….how can it be?! may hashem strengthen the family…moshiach is surely coming any second now

As a shlucha my family would come into NY for pessach and we would send our children to BR and OT to have the experience of the Rebbe’s mosdos in the Rebbe’s shchuna. My daughter one year was in Mrs. Brook’s class for 2 weeks after pessach and she gave her such a wonderful experience!! She called me the night b4 my daughters last day and told me she was planning a goodbye party for my daughter! At the time she had a sick child in the hospital and was running back and forth, but she took the time to… Read more »

Chanchy u were the best counselor. Loads of fun. I remember you and Fraydel sneak us into swimming whenever we felt like it. ( not our designated activity). Many fun things just so we would enjoy. No rules. Summer was for fun. U were the best and still are. You will never be gone. U will live on in my heart 4ever until we meet with Moshiach. Please bring him fast.

Can’t even think of a comment worth making. This is just too much. Aibershter,we are just small people and don’t understand. Too many brokenhearted y’somim, almonos, almonim, relatives and friends.Too much goodness and talent being taken that is sorely needed and will be sorely missed. Please, please send Moshiach already and make the TRULY good times begin. To the Brook and Goldman families Sheyeechyu: Hamakom yenachaim eschem b’sohch sh’ar availai Tzion V’ee’rushalayim. May Chanchy return to us b’karov mamosh.

Friends Forever

The first time I too met Chanchy, was in Sem in Yerres, France. Aside from agreeing with everything #22 has written about her, I have my own personal story to add… Upon arriving to Sem I became very good friends with the “Americans” including Chanchy/ Fraidel, Rochel שתחיוetc. We spent so many good and especially FUN times together which helped pass the difficult months in a strange land with even stranger food and customs. They made us laugh until we cried and then some more! Melave Malkas and Yomim Tovim were special with Chanchy and her gang. Every time they… Read more »
