Mrs. Chana Philipson, a beloved mother and known baal chesed from Monsey, NY, who supported many causes around the world, passed away on Wednesday, 20 Adar, 5782.
She was 55 and passed away suddenly.
Devorah Chana was the daughter of Menachem Mendel Gottleib of Boro Park, and was married to Binyomin Philipson, a Tosher Chosid and successful businessman.
Together with her husband, Chana supported hundreds of Chabad and Jewish causes, including many Shluchim, Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch, the Simcha Fund, the Shluchim Office, and others.
Chana herself was an activist and philanthropist, constantly busy with Chesed and helping others.
She was very active in the Tzedek Organization, working with Director Rabbi Moshe Margareten and Aleph’s Rabbi Zvi Boyarski.
Chana worked tirelessly in the area of Pidyon Shevuyim and was active with R’ Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin’s case, assisting with reaching out to politicians and judges to bring attention to the injustice.
She worked with the Tzedek Organization on the Criminal Justice Reform Bill, helping to raise funds and awareness. In recent months she was working to start an organization for criminal prevention, focusing on legal education and assistance.
She was also involved in supporting the building of Mikvahs around the world, and whenever she traveled, supported Chabad Centers and Shluchim who she met.
She is survived by her husband, Binyomin, and 3 children.
The levaya will take place today at 12 pm in Monsey, with burial in Israel.
