Mr. Yitzchak Levi (Ira) Hakohen Katzenberg, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who was a member of the Chabad community in Montreal, Canada passed away on Tuesday, 7 Adar, 5783.
He was 74.
Ira worked as a microbiologist and was known as a Chossid of the Rebbe who was a kind man whose great pride was his family. He greeted all with a smile and was a man of Chesed who loved every Jew.
He was a baal tefillah and served as Chazan for the Nussach Ari Shul in Montreal.
He merited to have a Yechidus with the Rebbe, during which the Rebbe inquired why his name on his letter was missing ‘Hakohen’, he later told.
He is survived by his wife, Daniella Katzenberg (Wasserman), and children, Racheli Jacks – Toronto, Ontario, Ziva Katzenberg – Melbourne, Australia, Dina Tova Goldman – Los Angeles, California, as well as his stepchildren, Nechama Dina Laber – Albany, NY, Mendy Wasserman – Fairlawn, NJ, Sholom Wasserman – Montreal, Canada, and Azriel Wasserman – Miami, FL, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sister Judy Levin – Montreal, Canada.
He was predeceased by his first wife Brocha Chaya Katzenberg obm.
The Levaya will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, in Montreal at 1:00 PM at Chesed Shel Emes, passing Cong. Nussach Ari at 1:45 PM.

Mr Katzenberg was a gentle soul with a wonderful sense of humour. He went through a lot and continued to raise his beautiful daughters.
