Rosh Hashana at the Rebbe’s Diamond Daveners – Kol Yakov Yehuda, the junior minyan for boys and girls at the Congregation Levi Yitzchok of Los Angeles, will be welcomed with a new addition.
A brand new paroches curtain that covers the Aron Kodesh containing the Sifrei Torah was unveiled this past Friday by the presidium of the shul – Levi Cohen, Yechezkel Pinson and Mendel Raeburn.
The paroches was dedicated in memory of Chaya Spalter, a young Shlucha and one of the shul’s energetic congregants who tragically passed away this past year at the age of 11.
“Kol Yakov Yehuda cannot start tomorrow without a Chaya,” the shul’s founder Rabbi Mendel Duchman said on Friday during the unavailing in the presence of Chaya’s parents and siblings.
The Spalter family was deeply moved when they were notified that the entire gift –from inception to completion– was handled by the children themselves.
Keep it up Mendel – you make a huge difference for the children of Los Angeles!
there are no words that express Reb Mendel duchmans goodness and kindness.
Touching how he initiated this idea all by himself and delay with the details ( 7th grade )to keep Chaya a part of KYY and to suprise her brother Dovi.
He is still fundraising for it.
If you would like to be a part of it please send to Levi Cohen or his parents
Kol HaKavod……
What a beautiful gesture to both Rabbi Mendel Spalter & Haddassah as a Memorial Tribute for Chaya, OBM.
May your beautiful family now only know of Goodness, Health, & Simchas.
I am a resident of the los angeles chabad community.
Rabbi D. and his dedicated staff are incredible!!
Our sweet children have benefited immensely from his tireless work!
When we lost Chaya our lives were saddened.
She was the epitome of what our Rebbe envisioned for a Tzivos Hashem girl.
I hope and pray that her parents will be somewhat comforted with this new Paroches
levi cohen you are amazing….
