This year presents a unique opportunity for us all. We have 60 days of joy ahead of us! At Chabad Girls Academy, we kicked off the simcha with a fifth and sixth grade Mother-Daughter Daven and Learn.
Mothers filed into class alongside their daughters and got straight into teams. Each team was given a Jewish General Knowledge Quiz. A great deal of discussion and learning followed. Daughters taught their mothers things they have never heard of and vice versa. It was an amazing bonding experience!
The room had such a positive and lebedik energy. Did you know a Kosher egg cannot be a round circle or complete oval? Neither did many of the moms who joined! They truly enjoyed learning from their children. As Mrs. Rena Weisz articulated, “The mother-daughter davening was so interactive and fun! It was great to sit and daven together and learn new things and meet the other parents!! I could not be more impressed!”
To showcase some information the students had learned recently, the General Knowledge Quiz was followed by questions on the past few Parshiot. The girls answered eagerly, excited to show their mothers all the information they have been learning.
The highlight of the day was yet to come – a special Hachana L’tefillah Shema Workshop. The workshop featured a deeper look into the Tefillah of Shema. Understanding all the mitzvot presented in the tefillah gave a whole new meaning to the tefillah for everyone. Mrs. Sara Korn commented; “It was nice to be in the classroom with my daughter. We had a lesson about davening that was inspiring and interesting, then we sang the davening together. The atmosphere was a perfect way to start off Adar Alef!”
Coffee and doughnuts were served next, followed by the most beautiful joint davening! Mothers sat alongside their daughters for davening. The hum of their tefillot was so beautiful! Singing together, saying Hallel in praise of Hashem – an unusual and remarkable sight to behold.
As Mrs. Chani Frankel so eloquently put it, “This morning I was invited to join Noa for a mother daughter Rosh Chodesh davening. I cannot remember the last time I sang the whole davening led by a Chazanit keeping the tempo. It felt joyous and special to bond with Noa and all her friends through prayer and song. I left feeling rejuvenated, happy and grateful for the wonderful and memorable experience.”
Very nice idea
