Two years ago, the life of a Crown Heights mother of nine children was upended. She was given the dread diagnosis, and her life hangs in the balance. Her husband, a hardworking professional, was now thrust into the role of full-time caregiver to his wife and children, unable to work and support his family as he once did.
Her condition is worsening, and her husband now spends much of his time taking her around for treatments. The mother is ill, and nine children need to be fed, dressed, brought to school, put to bed.
Nine children who just want their mother back to her healthy self.
Much of the cost of her treatment is covered by insurance, but many of the therapies, treatments, transportation and housing are not—and there is the cost of raising a family of nine children which is very difficult to handle all at once.
