Mossad Chief Discreetly Visits the Rebbe’s Ohel in New York

Mossad Director David Barnea was seen exiting the Old Montefiore Cemetery in Queens, New York, wearing a large black yarmulka on his head on Wednesday morning.

Dadi Barnea, head of Israel’s national intelligence agency, was filmed holding a prayer book after praying at the Rebbe’s Ohel, the most visited Jewish holy site in North America.

He was flanked by security details, and Rabbi Yosef Carlebach and his son Rabbi Mendy Carlebach, Chabad operatives from New Jersey who have connections with Israeli officials. Barnea received a U.S. dollar bill that the Rebbe has handed with blessings.

Plans for his visit and trip to the United States weren’t publicized. His visit to the Ohel only became known because a person who was present filmed him discreetly entering the welcome tent of the Ohel Chabad-Lubavitch Center.

His visit followed a slew of high-profile visits, including Donald Trump before he was reelected as the 47th president, Israel’s Defense Minister, Israel Katz, and relatives of hostages still abducted by Hamas terrorists in Gaza.

Barnea has spearheaded the drawn-out negotiations to release the hostages, alongside orchestrating Israel’s battles against its neighboring enemies since the October 7, 2023, massacre.

During a recent visit to Mossad’s headquarters, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised Barnea for his leadership in bringing about the victory over Iran.

Jerusalem has devastated Hezbollah, Iran’s ally in Lebanon, in a series of military operations that started with the Mossad’s September 17-18 pager attacks that wounded thousands of its operatives, in response to the organization’s attacks in support of Palestinian Hamas in Gaza.

“The Mossad operation with the pagers set in motion everything that happened afterward,” Netanyahu said, listing the death of Hezbollah terror leader Hassan Nasrallah, as well as the collapse of the Syrian regime and Jerusalem’s joint military action with Washington against Tehran.

“Under the leadership of Mossad Director David Barnea, the agency proved its deep commitment to eliminating the leading minds and striking the Iranian nuclear program,” the Israeli premier stated, according to a report by JNS.

Barnea revealed that his organization had been preparing “special and intelligence operations against the Iranian threat” for years before the Israel Defense Forces launched “Operation Rising Lion” on June 13, according to JNS.

“Today, the State of Israel is in a powerful and strategic position, thanks to the outstanding cooperation with the military, which showed astounding capabilities alongside the Mossad,” Barnea stated.

“Our mission is not over,” Barnea said during that meeting, saying his staff were committed to continuing their efforts “with determination, to prevent future Iranian threats to the State of Israel, and to striving to utilize the strategic opportunities before us fully.”
