As every year, members of the Chevra Kadisha in Moscow held a Kinus and Seudas Mitzvah for all members and supporters of the Central Chevra Kadisha of Moscow and volunteers of Zaka of Russia, led by Russia’s Chief Rabbi Berl Lazar.
The event was held on the 15th of Kislev, as was done in the time of the Alter Rebbe.
During the day, the members fasted and representatives from the organizations visited the cemetery, to say selichot and prayers as is customary.
After the annual reciting of special prayers and joint study, the annual gathering and seudas Mitzvah was held at the Tefilas Moshe Shul in the Shaare Tzedek Jewish Chesed Center, in the Marina Roscha neighborhood in central Moscow.
During the conference, Rabbi Lazar spoke and gave chizuk to the members and volunteers, and told of the greatness of the Mitzvah of Chesed Shel Emes, especially in difficult situations, as they have succeeded with great mesiras nefesh to provide proper honor to the deceased in the past year during the pandemic.
