Nestled in the beautiful Morris Township, just half a mile away from the Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim of Morristown main building, is a beautiful and friendly community affectionately known as “Tikvah Way”.
For the many Kollel Yungeleit, Hanhala members and families living in this warm and vibrant neighborhood, making the walk up to the Main campus on Shabbos and Yom Tov, meant walking on the very busy Sussex Avenue highway.
Head Shliach and Dean Rabbi Moshe Herson, Dean asked with former Mayor, Jeff Grayzel and the Township Committee to increase the safety and make it easier to come to Yeshiva on Shabbosim.
On Monday evening, 25 Elul – September 11, a lively Ribbon Cutting celebration was held for the brand-new sidewalk that stretches down Sussex Avenue, including the span from Tikvah Way to the Rabbinical College.
The Morristown Chabad community expressed tremendous appreciation to Morris Township for “a safer Morristown for all.”
Addressing the gathering at the entrance to Tikvah Way were Rabbi Moshe Herson, current Mayor Mark Gyorfy and former Mayor Jeff Grayzel. Attending the event were members of the Morristown Council and Governing Board.
Community children presented the Morris Township Mayor and Committee members with a “thank you” poster which they made.
In the spirit of safety, the new Morristown Hatzalah ambulance which is now stationed at the Rabbinical College participated at the celebration as well.
Honey sticks, ices, bubbles and water were distributed making it another fun filled and proud moment for the Morristown community.
Special thank you to Mrs. Sarah Morgenstern for coordinating the details of this event.
