When Morocco’s ambassador to Australia, Wassane Zailachi visited the Chabad-run Charity ‘Our Big Kitchen’ some months ago, she was very impressed by what you saw and strongly felt that charities in Morocco would benefit from a better understanding of the community work done in OBK.
She was also pleased to learn from Mrs. Laya Slavin, Co-founder of OBK, that the first Shliach sent by the Rebbe was to Morocco.
It took some organizing and eventually, Hind Laidi, who established a Moroccan Charity named JOOD (Arabic for generosity, goodness toward others) was nominated as the most suitable person to visit Sydney.
Arrangements were made and Ms Laidi come to Australia to see the work OBK does as well as to share her achievements in Morocco, she is spending a week to fully experience OBK and its charitable work.
Last week, a historic agreement has been signed between JOOD & OBK, presided over by the Moroccan Ambassador who made it all happen.
Rabbi Dovid Slavin, founder of OBK said, “This will facilitate the exchange of ideas for the betterment of all who turn to the charities for help.”
The Ambassador spoke about the very warm relationship, the Jewish community has with Morocco and remarked, “How wonderful that this friendship can be nurtured in far of Sydney.”
Laidi spoke about her journey in establishing the charity and the prospects this partnership will bring.
The event was attended by community members as well as staff of the Moroccan embassy.

Slavins you make us proud
